I had difficult time installing awning as the hex nut that slides into channel, kept stripping/rounding inside channel as I tried to tighten it onto bracket mount I ordered separate for rtt. I made sure it didn't go in cross threaded, couldn't event get it to tighten before it started rounding out inside channel. I had same issue when trying to remove rainfly window rod brackets off tent (to add mounts awning) and even removing those, I was able to remove one of the two Allen bolts but one was super tight, that it just rounding/stripping the channel behind. Seems as if the channels on tent and awning are bigger then the hex bolts provided and recommended

Based on your description, it seems there might have been a misunderstanding during the installation process. The correct method is to slide the hex bolt into the track first and then secure it with the locking nut on the outside.

My awning arrived when I was told it would be. It arrived in great shape. It was easy to attach to the top oak galaxy 1 roof top tent. I realized after I ordered that I needed a different support to attach it to the tent. I ordered it and received it in an amount of time. This made it easy to attach item together. I have been camping since and it all has worked out great! They even sent a boxed end ratchet. What a plus! I’m really happy with the quality and price. It’s hard to find a company that does this well and they are great!! Thank you! I will always rave about these products from Topoak, they are that good!!
First day, taking it on the trail ended up, rubbing it on some rocks. I was surprised how thick the cover was and how strong the weld points were. Still blown away the value for the price not even for the price just the quality
Awning is amazing, especially for the price. Top oak goes above and beyond with all the accessories it comes with, including a 13 mm wrench to install and a bag to hold everything. The only downside is the brackets it comes with suck. They likely work better for crossbar-style racks, but they stuck out too far for my flat-style rack (Prinsu, Uptop overland, etc.) due to the bottom of the bracket dipping down which would interfere with the side fairing of the rack. Also, I feel like 3 instead of 2 brackets would be better for off-road abuse. I ended up purchasing 3 Heavy duty L brackets from “The Bush Company USA” which have worked great and came with the same hardware that fit into the awning’s grooves to mount. I was also able to mount the awning higher, giving me more headroom underneath. Highly recommend getting these, or other aftermarket brackets, if you do any real off-roading and/or washboard roads. If it weren’t for the brackets it came with, I’d give Topoak a 5/5. Even factoring in the aftermarket brackets, it’s still a great deal.
