Well, I love it because I bought this tent and not one that was $3k more.
I picked it up from the warehouse on Wednesday and I already using it Friday night. The first night was 29 degrees and there was a little draft coming from the door but not bad. I used a portable battery and an indoor space heater and the draft helped keep the air fresh. The second night was in a different location and I thought the 20+ mph sustained winds and the 40+ gusts were going to blow the tent off the truck or at least rip the rainfly off the rods but it survived. This is one well built and rough RTT. I have seen videos of a similar and much more expensive get beat up in poor weather.
One bit of advance once you buy it. Before you take it out, practice opening it and setting it up. I had a hard time with the ladder because I was trying to extent it from the top rows and leave the bottom ones closed. That does not work. You extend the bottom ones and bunch the closed ones on top. It makes sense but not in a pitch dark, remote desert area when all you want to do is sleep.
My only complaint (which is why the rainfly didn't fly in the winds I experienced) is the rods.for the rainfly are thick and take some muscle to bend in place. It is not so bad that you need huge muscles to do it but a trial run before you need to do it is a good idea. I LOVE MY RTT!
One note about the warehouse. If you live relatively close, save the shipping and pick it up. I went alone and they helped unbox it (nice packed in a wooden crate which they disposed of and not me in my trashcan), load it on to my rack, and even helped me get the hardware out of the tent to show me how to attach it. They don't install it for you but we're very helpful.
I've been on the hunt for a foldable tent for a while, and after seeing a YouTube video of this one, I knew it was the one! When it arrived, I unpacked it right away, and everything was there. The metal frame feels super sturdy, and setting it up was a breeze. I even tested how waterproof it is, and it held up perfectly. There's tons of storage space inside, and they’ve nailed all the small details for everyday use. I’m really impressed with this tent!
TopOak customer service has been excellent to work with. They were very responsive to the issues I highlighted in my original review and were quick to send out the missing pieces. There is supposed to be a condensation mat, and that’s being sent right now. And the tie down straps we didn’t have in ours are also being sent out.
They stated they will also update the mattress size in the description, as it is 78” x 70”, dropping to 62” wide past the support struts and if you check on other manufacturer’s products, is quite common with this type of tent.
I also confirmed that the mattress thickness is just under the stated 2”. Side sleepers, you still need another mattress but there are plenty of options out there! 4x4 Colorado’s CloudComfort AirFoam Camping Mattress (His and Hers size) fits exactly into this tent. Down to the inch.
I appreciate the fact that this tent seems well built! I would still suggest adding some condensation vents to the upper part of it in later iterations to handle hot breath in the tent with cold outside climates. We’ll be using our portable diesel heater to help with that!
Otherwise we were able to fit 2 adults and 2 children in the XL. I’ll post more pictures and update with a long term review when we’ve had it a bit longer! We go camping pretty regularly.

We received the RTT in a wooden box via freight.
Freight company was great and easy to set up delivery. However make sure your freight truck driver is in a good mood or he will likely leave your tent in the street versus wheeling it into your driveway.
Nothing to do about the tent itself but that was shocking.
Through the tent up on my 2015 Honda Pilot with two people.
Hardware to install is inside the tent so may be a good idea to get it first before placing it loosely on your roof.
Overall construction is good but the corners of the tent are not aluminum but some type of polymer.
I thought it was all aluminum so we will have to see how it holds up.
First camping trip is coming up and my family are excited to try it out!
After our first trip, I can say, we love the tent. Love how easy setup and tear down is. The wife really loves how dark it is inside the tent. Definitely would buy again.
